Teddy Bears' Picnic.
A lovely summer ride from Bushley to The Royal Forest of Dean, control at a former site of Roman iron smelting. Then onwards to Much Marcle - home to some of Herefordshire's finest cider. Finally an easy cycle back.
Departing Bushley, you'll cycle along quiet country lanes (there's the odd km of B-road), through various villages and hamlets. Eventually the Severn vale terrain ebbing to the Forest of Dean. Your first stop is at the Dean Heritage centre - Soudley, Once suitably refreshed, the route then takes a route north out of the forest, and passes into Herefordshire - one of England's most rural counties. You'll cycle through an ever-increasing ammount of orchards, until reaching Much Marcle - and one of the largest cider producers in the UK. The second stop is the the old bottle museum at Weston's Cider Mill. Here they'll happily serve cream teas (made with local produce), hot and cold drinks, for the more adventurous (and senior) there maybe the chance to sample some more local produce, but remember you still have about 30km to get back to arrivee, so don't 'over-do-it' on the fruity lubricant. The final stretch is predominantly along quiet country lanes, with the odd rise here and there, before a final traverse of Longdon Marsh and Arrivee back at Bushley village hall.PLEASE NOTE THERE WILL BE NO ENTRY ON THE LINES.
