Rollin' and Tumblin'

Description

200km cycling event starting from The Ship, Alveston. Controls at Blaenafon, Talybont On Usk and The Ship, Alveston., plus 4 information controls.

It's back! Probably the best Tumble ride in the world!

Leaving The Ship at Alveston we cross the Severn bridge and skirt Chepstow before dropping into Tintern. Climbing west out of Tintern alongside the Anghidi River we pop out at Cobbler's Plain, descend Star Hill and ride through Raglan. We have a flat ride to Llanfoist before setting off up The Tumble. First control is at Blaenavon at The Big Pit Mining Museum, I should be here at the top of the hill by the canteen stamping cards. From here we have about 30km of mostly urban riding before heading down to control at Talybont on Usk on quiet rolling roads passing through forests and past the reservoir. From Talybont (get your card stamped at the Cafe) we ride the Usk Valley road to Abergavenny and take the old Ross road to join the A466 before climbing again at Llancloudy. We continue heading south to Monmouth before the final run back along the Wye Valley road passing Tintern Abbey for the second time and retrace back to The Ship at Alveston. GPX files along with other useful info will be emailed to entrants nearer to the time of the event.
