A Bit Dented

152km cycling event starting from Caton, nr Lancaster. Controls at Threshfield Spar & Shell Fuel Station and Bull Beck Picnic Site Or Co-Op/Atm In Caton., plus 2 information controls.

You can use E-Brevet proof of passage on this event.

A hilly Brevet Populaire in the Yorkshire Dales with a relaxed minimum speed of 12kph.

Caton to Settle along mainly quiet lanes then a bit of proper climbing up the steep but short High Hill Lane with a lovely descent to Airton and on to Threshfield. Soon converge with 'Stumped and Dented 200' and ride along lovely Littondale to Halton Gill where the road climbs steeply before a fast descent to Stainforth. At this point you may come across riders on 'Barely Dented 100. All three routes gently climb via Horton-in-Ribblesdale to pass Ribblehead Viaduct and under Denthead Viaduct to Dent. The climb from Dent is steep and short but rewarded with a long descent of beautiful Barbondale followed by a few flatter km to the end.

This year there is cafe start with free car park so entry price is now just a paltry £8.00 which includes a distinctive sew on cloth event badge (toilets are not free though so bring change!). Controls are either via eBrevet or commercial and info and there will be a postal finish. There are also two Audax events run by another organiser on 28th April in nearby Wray. Why not make it a Forest of Bowland/Yorkshire Dales weekend extravaganza of cycling?

Caton is easy to get to, being just 8km from Lancaster which is situated on the West Coast Mainline and adjacent to the M6 motorway. There are a number of budget hotels in the area. Provisional RWGPS https://ridewithgps.com/routes/32054566
