Description

A new event from 2020. A pleasant rolling route around Staffordshire and Derbyshire lanes.
Starting from Werrington Village Hall, Stoke-on-Trent. The first section passes the 12th century ruins of Croxden Abbey then on to Rocester, the home of JCB. Pass the former Arkwright Mill, now the JCB academy, before making your way to the control near HMP Sudbury. A short ride from the Prison and you pass the impressive Sudbury Hall, one of the country's finest Restoration mansions. The route now takes you through some pretty Staffordshire villages, including Tutbury, Yoxall and Abbots Bromley. A possible chip shop control at Hixon before a return through Milwich and Stallington. Some short sections of A roads but mostly on quiet B roads and minor country lanes, ideal for a first time audax.
A light breakfast at the start and food provided at Sudbury and the finish, all included in the entry fee. Large car park at Werrington Village Hall and only 4 miles from Stoke Railway station. All the pictures on the website page were taken whilst riding the route.
