Description

A new event for PBP 2019.A benign route through picturesque mid Wales.Ideal PBP qualifier,easy navigation,audax freindly controls used.Some cyle route,easily ridden on road bike.Dedicated night stop.
The route leaves the upper reaches of the Severn vale for a quiet trek down to the Wye valley through Monmouth and eventually along the Usk valley to Talybont-on-Usk for breakfast. Heading north to once again pick-up the Wye valley as far as Builth. The ride heads west to Llandovery for lunch. You continue west towards Lampeter then follow various river valley to Devil's Bridge. Once on the A44 the main coast road is followed to Machynlleth. The route starts eastwards to Cammaes road, following the A470/B4568 to/through Newtown and the climb up and over banc Gorddwr, dropping down along the Teme valley through Knighton and soon a stop at Wigmore. Day two starts with a long benign stretch to/through Hay-on-Wye, Bredwardine, Moccas, Allensmore to Wormlow Tump. The A466 is followed down to Monmouth again following the Wye valley down to its confluence with the River Severn, crossing the Severn estuary on the Old Severn Bridge, the ride then heads up the Severn Vale through yet more villages/hamlets along quite lanes. Gloucester is passed-through traffic-free, and a final stretch along the A38 to return to Tewkesbury. A surprisingly benign route through some of the prettiest parts of mid Wales, The Welsh Marches, and numerous river vallies. Plenty of places between controls to source addition fuelling if necessary.
