Description

A 200 km figure of 8 ride starting from Manningtree train station that goes to Hertfordshire & back. (Make sure you're entering the correct ride as there's also an option to start from Buntingford!)
This ride is a 200 km PBP qualifying ride but please do not panic about entering early. The ride starts and finishes at Manningtree train station and the only non commercial control will be a low key affair at the Great Chishill windmill. This means I can be pretty flexible with numbers.

Herman Ramsey set up the Green & Yellow Fields 300 and Asparagus & Strawberries 400. This event is designed to complement those two rides and is also based on one of Herman's original rides. It starts from the station car park in Manningtree. This means it's easy to get to the start on public transport from London, Colchester, Stowmarket, Norwich etc. From Manningtree the ride crosses over the boundary between Essex and Suffolk a number of times. The first checkpoint is at Great Chishill windmill and the westernmost control is in Buntingford. The return leg is via an info control in Manuden, with the final control in the beautiful village of Lavenham.

The route passes through many of the amazing areas, villages and towns of the region, including Dedham Vale AONB, Bures, Finchingfield, Saffron Walden, The Pelhams, Stoke by Clare, Long Melford, Lavenham and Boxford.

Finalised routesheet and GPX files to be provided nearer the time once the route has been checked, but draft route is here: https://www.gpxeditor.co.uk/routes2/users/adam.alexander.young%40gmail.com/Essex-and-Suffolk-Borders-2022

This would be a great first 200 km ride for anyone stepping up the distance, or if new to audax, as it's a relatively simple route without too much climbing. (For anyone new to audax full stop there is a great video explaining the process here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=do0iQ7iustk )
