Description

The classic Start of Summertime event. Why not kick start your audax year, after a winter hibernation? Note event is now x rated as Covid 19 ended WI village hall controls and supporting Cycling UK events.
The climbing figure has gone up, not because there's lots more climbing than previous editions. Just that I felt the figure of previous years under estimated the climbing. Thus the figure has been reassessed. Note there are no steep chevroned climbs, anywhere on the route.

With an updated route, a new section via Great Yeldham from 2024, turning at the delightful market town of Lavenham as always.

The return route returns via Thaxted. It's been recognised that the options to control and get hot food have significantly reduced at Thaxted. It is therefore no longer a control, and from Thaxted you'll follow a new route to replacement control Stansted Mountfitchet. Here you'll be able control at an Esso, Dominoes Pizza, Tesco Express, chip shop, or Chinese, or if quick the cafes.

We then follow a new route to Furneaux Pelham and from there the same route as 2023 to the finish pub. Same finish pub for 2024, which offers somewhere to lock your bike, and plenty of indoor space and hot food and drink options.
