This is a one-way trip from Southport to Stalybridge, or perhaps from Stalybridge to Southport - you choose depending on the wind direction. You can also choose between a flat route using part of the Leeds Liverpool canal towpath, or a less flat ride over Ashurst Beacon. The_brevet app works for whichever you choose but make sure the start location agrees with where you actually start. There is a direct train back to your start location, although on Sundays you may need to change at Victoria.
