Annan Other Borders Circuit
A relatively easy and very scenic route on good, mainly quiet roads. The evening/night sections have relatively easy navigation. Overnight control at Kirknewton Village Hall if needed.
An ideal first 400 or a training 400 for anyone looking to do PBP. A Clockwise loop through Kielder Forest, to Longtown then relatively flat to Annan before turning North past Moffat and over the Devil's Beef Tub Pass. The Devil's Beef Tub is the only significant climb of the route and whilst it is long it has an average gradient of less than 3%. The route then follows the Tweed Valley mainly downhill to Kelso and then onto Kirknewton Village Hall where there will be food, drinks and the opportunity to rest if needed. The route then returns through Alnwick and the Northumberland coastal plain. 24 hour facilities are available at Galashiels (266km) and Alnwick (357km) as well as Kirknewton. The Community Centre in Ponteland will be open through the night for food and drinks with a warm welcome for when you finish. Entries for this event are limited and may close before the closing date. If entries are not full at the closing date there may only be a limited number of late entries available if any.
