The Shark

Description

205km cycling event starting from Greenwich. Controls at Crowborough, Mayfield and Greenwich., plus 2 information controls.

This event has a mandatory route - you should follow the route instructions as closely as possible.

A hilly ride from the River Thames to The Channel and back, mainly using quiet lanes and B roads. Note that the event may close to new entries early if the capacity limit is reached.

Starts from Cutty Sark Gardens and heads south out of London across the North Downs, Greensand Ridge and High Weald to Crowborough for a first control at the shops/cafés/garages there. Make your way down to the Low Weald before a scenic climb over the South Downs to the halfway point at the cafe on the beach at Seaford, where you can chose to stop or not. On the way back there is another 'free' control in the pretty medieval town of Mayfield, where you again just need to get a receipt from one of the shops. Finishes back at Greenwich, exact location TBC. Eligible for the Grimpeurs du Sud award (https://sites.google.com/site/grimpeursdusud/). Route sheet and GPX track will be sent to all participants at the beginning of April after a final route check ride over the Easter weekend.
