The Capitals of East Anglia
Second running of this 300km event from Cambridge that heads far out into the ‘wilds’ of Suffolk, dips a toe in the North Sea at Dunwich, visits ‘civilised’ Norfolk, and heads home via the “Ship of the Fens” at Ely.
The route visits capitals of ancient kingdoms, regions and tribes, as well as capitals of religion and learning, all in East Anglia. The route starts with a bit of a climb that won't trouble any ‘uplanders’ and then rolls steadily from there to the coast along deserted lanes and quiet roads via the old trading port of Ipswich, to dip a toe in the sea at ancient Dunwich. The return heads to the bustling be-castled cathedral city of Norwich, and then across the flatness of the Fens to pass the doors of Ely Cathedral, before heading back to the sleepy spires of Cambridge. This is an x-rated event; there is no hall.
